Stand-Alone CPR Courses Offered by Major Providers, Including St Mark James

All major first aid and CPR providers, including St Mark James, offer stand-alone CPR courses designed specifically for those who want to focus solely on CPR training. These courses follow guidelines established by the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR), which has developed a series of CPR courses at different levels to meet various needs.

You can register for a stand-alone CPR course near you by clicking here. Below is an overview of the available CPR levels and what each entails:

CPR Level “A”

CPR Level A is the most basic CPR course, lasting approximately 4 hours. It focuses on performing CPR on adult victims and is typically included as part of the Emergency First Aid course. Participants will learn how to assist victims of choking and cardiac arrest, and how to operate an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

Upon successful completion of the course and a multiple-choice exam, candidates receive a St Mark James CPR Level A and AED certificate, valid for 3 years. Please note that re-certification is not available for this course; to renew your certification, you must retake the entire course.

CPR Level “C”

CPR Level C is the most popular CPR course offered by St Mark James and runs between 6 to 8 hours. It teaches CPR skills for adults, children, and infants, covering the use of protective equipment and techniques for handling choking victims—both conscious and unconscious.

This course is usually included with the Standard First Aid training. Upon successful completion, including the skills test and multiple-choice exam, candidates receive a St Mark James CPR Level C and AED certificate, valid for 3 years.

Depending on your employer or educational requirements, you may need to recertify sooner. Re-certification courses are available and typically take around 4 hours to complete.

CPR “HCP”

First Aid and CPR Rescue Techniques
CPR HCP courses include training in the use of advanced equipment such as bag-valve masks.

Health Care Provider (HCP) CPR is a comprehensive 6 to 8-hour course designed for healthcare professionals. It covers all material from CPR Levels A and C, plus additional skills such as circulation checks for non-breathing victims who still have circulation.

Candidates also learn to use advanced equipment like bag-valve masks and pocket masks. Upon successful completion, participants receive a St Mark James CPR HCP and AED certificate, valid for 3 years. Re-certification is available and usually takes about 4 hours.
